Each year, an ever-increasing number of men, women and their families are joining Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is a fun opportunity for men to educate the community about a very serious subject and to rally the community to take action to prevent sexual violence…
While many people may have the perception that domestic violence and sexual assault are “women’s issues,” we believe that inviting men to become allies in ending the violence sends a powerful message. In asking men to publicly stand up and show their commitment to ending violence, their actions will encourage other men to start thinking about how they personally can do their part to end violence.
While the “opportunity for men to educate the community” part sounds a little off, I’m glad to see consciousness raising among men about issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. Hope to see you there!
